Whether or not you have health insurance, getting health screenings will not cost you a dime this weekend. The Greater Port Jefferson Chamber of Commerce Annual Health & Wellness Expo takes place this Saturday, April 21, at the Earl L. Vandermeulen High School at Port Jefferson from 11am – 4pm.
The theme of this year’s expo is “Healthy Living – It’s Your Choice,” and it will include free health screenings conducted by St. Charles Hospital, Mather Hospital and Stony Brook University Medical Center. Screenings include balance, audiology, sleep disorder, blood pressure and weight mass. There will also be free seminars, exhibitors and other helpful showcases such as live cooking, tai chi, yoga, exercise and other demonstrations to help attendees learn about healthy living. This is something that’s well-worth attending as there is no cost to admission, you get free health screenings, free information and parking is available.
This is the third year the expo is being held. Health and wellness professionals will be onsite to discuss information on health at various stages of life, from pre-birth, childhood, adulthood, elder years to afterlife. Professionals include those in physical fitness, nutrition, holistic medicine and more.
The sponsors of the expo include Stony Brook Medicine, St. Charles Hospital, Mather Hospital, Times Beacon Record Newspaper, Moloney’s Funeral Home, Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Jefferson Ferry Lifecare Community and Whole Foods Markets.
Health care can be costly, but if you maintain healthy living and get screened and checked regularly you will be in much better condition and possibly save on health and medical costs down the road.
